My husband and I became residents of this apartment building in August 2023 after returning from living overseas for eight years and selling our home during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the complex touts itself as a luxury establishment, our experience has not matched that description. In this review, I aim to provide an honest account of our individual experiences, highlight areas for improvement, and acknowledge the strengths of this property. The Move-In: Upon moving into our renovated apartment, we were met with disappointment. The condition was far from satisfactory. Here's a breakdown of the issues we encountered: Lack of Move-In Preparation: There was a noticeable absence of a move-in prep checklist for the maintenance or cleaning staff. The floors, carpet, and bathroom were filthy, with remnants from previous occupants, including dog hair and hair clips. The oven had not been cleaned, and the space behind the stove was disgustingly dirty. Maintenance Issues: Outlets were missing screws from the plate coverings, maintenance was working on a broken toilet, and blinds from previous tenants were broken. The renovations appeared rushed, with poorly painted cabinets and paint splatters on the floors. The Next Morning: The following morning, we experienced a security issue when the wheels of our car were stolen. Local police connected this incident to a series of car break-ins and thefts in the area that weekend. The Bad: This apartment complex suffers from poor management, and it's unclear whether the fault lies with the property management team or the owners. Here are the issues we've encountered: Security: The complex desperately needs a nightly security patrol. The supposedly "secure" parking garage is inadequate, with garage doors that take too long to close, allowing unauthorized entry. Numerous neighbors have had their cars stolen or broken into since our arrival. Installing a more robust garage door system to prevent tailgating is a must. The past two weeks several cars were stolen and broken into. Criminals know this place is a weak spot. Several residents met and discussed their grievances. I know personally of three cars that were stolen and at least 6 break-ins, one car was broken in twice within a week. We will start collecting police reports as proof that something needs to change! Broken Entrance Doors: Several entrance doors leading from the secure garage to the apartment complex are broken, allowing unauthorized access. Lost/Missing Spare Keys: Management should review the keys for every unit and change locks if spare keys are lost or missing to ensure residents' security. Tow Truck Company: The current tow truck company is unreliable and often unresponsive. Implementing a nightly security patrol could help address parking issues effectively. Insufficient Lighting: There are dark areas in the parking garage and around the building, posing potential safety risks. The Good: While our experience has been marred by various issues, some staff members have stood out for their excellent customer service: Dequan has been consistently helpful. Mariam, who was previously in the leasing office, is no longer there, and her absence is regrettable. Andre, David, and Aaron have provided exceptional customer service and have shown genuine care for the residents' well-being. In Conclusion: Is this place absolutely horrible? No, but it falls short of the luxury branding it claims. The quality of service appears to be declining. I urge the management to listen to the residents' concerns and push the owners to allocate more resources for necessary improvements before someone gets hurt.

Aventura at Contee Crossing is a true gem that left me excited about the possibility of making it my new home. The serene grounds, seamless leasing process, and luxurious apartments with high-quality finishes all showcase modern comfort. The amenities, from the fitness center to the inviting pool area, promise a well-rounded lifestyle. What truly sets Aventura apart is the strong sense of community fostered by communal spaces, making it more than just an apartment complex. The pet-friendly environment and convenient location near shopping and major highways add to its appeal. In essence, Aventura at Contee Crossing is an exceptional living choice, and I can't wait to potentially be part of it.

Do not come to live here unless you don't mind having your windows broken, and entire car and/or wheels stolen. Vandalism often occurs in the garage of Aventura at Contee Crossing (7810 Contee Rd, Laurel, MD 20707)

It’s only been two days however, I must say the management team Nicole and Daquan definitely have helped me feel at home. There was some unforeseen circumstances that was not in their control and they have made it very accommodating for me. Daquan is very professional and respectful. Nicole has been very sweet and helpful on my move.

We do not recommend moving here as they continue to hold on to our security deposit and charge an additional month of rent that we did not live in. All renters returned keys on July 1-2. Daquan stated that we would be receiving our security deposit in full because the office made clerical errors and sent a notice of renewal with an incorrect move out date. He then back tracks on this statement stating that we were at fault for this error, how could we be at fault for their mistake? He then proceeds to charge us an additional month of rent that we did not live in BASED ON AN ASSUMPTION that a tenant was still living in the unit despite returning all keys on the stated dates. Daquan tells us that a refund check will be sent by August 15th which is ridiculous because everything was handled electronically so why is a check, that was never received to this day, being sent by mail? This makes no sense. They are scammers. UPDATE Aventura has now charged a $1200 carpet replacement fee when the carpets are taken out regardless. This has been mentioned in a previous review and they will continue to do this to tenants. Nothing was damaged and the carpets needed to be replaced regardless because nails stuck out of the floor. This reaffirms that they will scam you out of your security deposit along with additional fees. Current tenants, proceed with caution, have a walk through of the apartment before you leave, have everything in writing. Overall this place is not worth the headache and security deposit loss, they are an unethical company.

My experience applying for this apartment left me disheartened due to the staff's handling of my approval process. The ordeal stretched over a week, leaving me frustrated as I sought to understand why I wasn't approved. It turned out that minor mistakes, like updating my last name due to marriage, caused the delay. I was disappointed that the staff didn't proactively reach out to clarify information discrepancies. The absence of an option to include my maiden or former name on the application for verification only added to the confusion. Despite providing accurate employment documentation, they claimed they couldn't verify my job status. With a clean credit history and an income surpassing the requirement, I was perplexed by the contrast with another apartment where I got approved in 15 minutes, their seamless verification process standing in stark contrast to Aventura's drawn-out and misleading approach from the outset.
